Moffitt’s portfolio at AFT includes fostering diverse agricultural practices, supporting rural economies, and helping farmers navigate modern challenges. Her expertise aligns with AFT's mission to preserve farmland and enhance rural communities' resilience.
Moffitt served as Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
As the first woman in this role, she oversaw initiatives like the Food Systems Transformation Initiative and the Organic Transition Initiative. Her tenure focused on creating a resilient and equitable food system, emphasizing sustainability and innovation.
Moffitt served as Deputy Secretary for Policy at the California Department of Food and Agriculture, where she championed climate-smart agricultural practices.
A fifth-generation farmer from California, she managed her family’s organic walnut farm for over a decade, gaining hands-on experience in sustainable farming.
Moffitt is a Brown University graduate and began her career with AFT, making her return to the organization a full-circle moment. Her dedication to preserving rural lifestyles and future-proofing farming economies reflects her lifelong commitment to agriculture.
