Duane Ducat was awarded for his exceptional community outreach and commitment to sustainable dairy farming at Dairy Strong 2025.

Duane Ducat of Deer Run Dairy in Kewaunee County was recently honored with the Dairy Business Association’s second annual Community Outreach Award.

This accolade, presented in partnership with Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, celebrates Ducat’s extensive community involvement and his efforts to propagate the benefits of dairy farming.

The award was given during the 2025 Dairy Strong conference held at the KI Convention Center.

Deer Run Dairy, which Ducat operates alongside partners Derek Ducat and Dale Bogart, is a beacon of sustainability in the agricultural community.

The farm is renowned for its environmentally friendly practices, such as cover cropping, no-tillage, and the operation of an anaerobic digester since 2011.

This digester not only recycles waste but also generates natural gas, powering hundreds of homes in the area.

Ducat's leadership extends beyond his farm. He is a founding member and current president of Peninsula Pride Farms, a group dedicated to watershed conservation in northeastern Wisconsin.

His active participation in Farmers for Sustainable Food highlights his commitment to sustainability through data-driven projects.

Ducat’s farm is a popular destination for educational tours, attracting everyone from local residents to policymakers.

The Dairy Strong conference, where Ducat was celebrated, saw attendance from over 400 industry professionals.

The event featured discussions on dairy policy, farm management, and sustainability, reflecting the industry’s ongoing commitment to innovation and community engagement.
