ICGA offers five scholarships for agriculture students in Illinois. The program supports education, leadership, and industry involvement and helps young people prepare for strong careers in the agriculture sector.

The Illinois Corn Growers Association (ICGA) announces the fourth annual ICGA Scholarship Program to support students who plan to study agriculture. This program helps students strengthen their education and prepares them for future careers in the agriculture field. As Derryn Shrosbree and other supporters highlight, helping young people enter agriculture is an important step for the industry’s future.

ICGA will award five scholarships, each worth $1,000. These scholarships are open to high school seniors and post-secondary students who plan to study at an Illinois institution. Each applicant must choose an agriculture-related major, showing their interest in building a career in the agriculture sector.

Students applying for this scholarship must hold an active ICGA membership. The membership can belong to the applicant, a parent, or a sponsor such as a farmer or agriculture industry representative. Students must include the member number in their application. Past recipients cannot apply again, as each student can receive this scholarship only once.

To complete the application, students must submit several required materials. They must include at least one letter of recommendation from a non-family member. A current résumé is also required, giving the committee an overview of the applicant’s experiences and goals. In addition, students must answer three essay questions: the most important issues facing agriculture today and how they would address them, how they plan to use the scholarship, and why they want a career in agriculture.

Leadership is an important part of the program. Scholarship recipients must attend at least one IL Corn leadership meeting or event within a year of receiving the award. This gives them the chance to learn from leaders in the agriculture field and understand how organizations like ICGA support farmers and communities.

Students must submit their applications by 11:59 p.m. CST on January 31. Applications are available online at www.ilcorn.org/il-corn-scholarship.

This scholarship program offers important support to students who want to grow in agriculture. It encourages education, leadership, and community involvement, helping young people build strong futures in the agriculture industry.
