Genesis Fertilizers announces the appointment of Derek Penner as President and Chief Executive Officer of Genesis Fertilizers GP Inc., the general partner of Genesis Fertilizers Limited Partnership. Derek also joins the board of directors.
The board members include Ian Craven, Kathy Jordison, Garth Whyte, who serves as Interim Chair, and Jason Mann. Except for Mann, all are independent directors.
Derek Penner is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) with more than 20 years of leadership experience in Canada and international markets. He has worked as Chief Financial Officer and later as President and CEO of Monsanto Canada. He also served as Director of Strategy and Licensing for Monsanto’s Europe, Middle East, and Africa business based in Switzerland.
Derek has also been Chief Executive Officer of one of Canada’s largest producers of natural health products and supplements. He is a co-owner and partner at Catchfire, a Canadian advisory firm that offers business advisory and management services, mainly focusing on mergers and acquisitions.
“We are thrilled to welcome Derek as a director and as the chief executive of the organization,” said Interim Board Chair Garth Whyte. “Derek has been involved with the project for several years as a valued consultant, and he will have oversight of Genesis Fertilizers' fertilizer plant project.”
Genesis Fertilizers plans to design, finance, and build a highly efficient nitrogen fertilizer production and distribution system for today’s farmers. This includes a central production facility located near low-cost raw materials and a network of farmer-focused distribution centres across Western Canada.
Genesis Fertilizers is a private limited partnership, and its securities do not trade on any stock exchange.
With Derek Penner now leading the project, Genesis Fertilizers aims to support Canadian farmers through modern fertilizer solutions and efficient service delivery.
