The Seed Innovation Protection Alliance, known as SIPA, welcomes Chris Reat as its new Executive Director. He began his responsibilities on November 15, 2025. His leadership supports the organization’s goal of protecting seed innovation and helping the seed sector move forward with confidence.

Chris brings 30 years of experience in the agriculture industry. His work includes crop inputs, seeds, biotechnology, intellectual property protection, and building strong partnerships. His background helps him understand the changing needs of the seed market and the importance of protecting new ideas and technologies.

ASTA President and CEO Andy LaVigne shared strong support for Chris joining the team. He said, "Chris strengthens our team with exceptional experience in securing intellectual property rights and fostering partnership engagement across the seed sector."

This statement shows the trust placed in Chris to guide SIPA’s efforts and support its members. LaVigne also stated that the organization remains committed to smart, industry-led solutions that help members protect their investments.

Chris studied Agriculture Development at Texas A&M University–College Station. Chris expressed excitement for his new role, saying, "I'm thrilled to bring my experience to SIPA's members and board. Together, we'll develop innovative, principled solutions to meet the evolving needs of our industry. SIPA leads the way in promoting and protecting the value of seed innovation -- and I'm honored to contribute."

He and his wife, Becky, have two adult sons, Cole and Cade, who are both graduates of respected institutions and now serve in professional careers.

SIPA also thanked retiring Executive Director Eloy R. Corona, who will support Chris during the transition period. His guidance ensures a smooth shift in leadership and helps maintain ongoing projects.

With Chris Reat’s experience and leadership, SIPA looks forward to continued progress in protecting seed innovation, supporting fair practices, and encouraging strong partnerships across the agriculture sector.
