Bruce Burrows joins Grain Growers of Canada as Executive Director, effective April 1, 2026. He brings more than 40 years of experience in industry leadership, transportation, infrastructure, and labor policy. His role will focus on strengthening advocacy and representing Canadian grain farmers at the national level.
Based in Ottawa, Burrows builds a strong career in government relations and policy work. He develops strategies that support industry growth and helps connect organizations with decision-makers. His work includes policy development, political advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and building partnerships across industries.
Burrows has held leadership roles with organizations such as the Chamber of Marine Commerce and the Railway Association of Canada. He also works as a strategic advisor with Tactix. Earlier in his career, he gained experience in management roles with Canadian Pacific Railway in Canada and other countries.
His experience covers many sectors, including transportation, energy, infrastructure, and natural resources. This wide knowledge helps him understand how supply chains and policies affect agriculture and the economy. He is known for working well with different groups and guiding complex policy discussions.
“It is a real honour to join Grain Growers of Canada and represent the interests of grain farmers across the country,” said Burrows.
“As essential drivers of our economy and suppliers of the food Canadians and customers around the world rely on, it is critical that producers’ priorities remain front and centre in federal decision-making,” he added. “Strong advocacy starts with strong connections, and I look forward to strengthening those relationships by working with producers and members across Canada to ensure their priorities continue to be clearly heard in Ottawa.”
The organization believes his leadership comes at an important time. Canada’s grain sector is facing both domestic and global challenges, and strong representation is needed to support farmers.
“Bruce brings a proven ability to drive sector priorities and build strong industry coalitions that effectively engage government,” said Grain Growers of Canada Chair Scott Hepworth. “The Board is confident he will strengthen our advocacy and help move those priorities forward for grain producers across Canada.”
With his experience and leadership, Burrows is expected to play a key role in supporting Canadian agriculture and ensuring farmer voices remain strong.
