Iowa State University Extension and Outreach have announced Bonnie Williams as the new regional director for four key counties in Iowa: Pocahontas, Humboldt, Webster, and Hamilton.
Williams will bring her vast experience in educational design and community outreach to this pivotal role.
In her new capacity, Williams will be responsible for providing administrative leadership to the staff of the county extension offices and offering strategic guidance to the county extension councils.
Her role is crucial in ensuring that the extension offices deliver effective and compliant programs that meet community needs.
Williams is well-prepared for this role, having previously managed the Iowa 4-H Youth Development's educational design and development.
Her experience also includes serving as the executive director for ISU Extension and Outreach in Clay County. During her tenure, she successfully managed the operating budget, ensured legal compliance and policy adherence, and led program delivery that significantly increased the outreach and impact of the programs.
Her educational background includes a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, equipping her with deep insights into the needs and opportunities in educational programs within the state.
The ISU Extension and Outreach program, part of the federal Cooperative Extension Service, works across more than 100 land-grant institutions and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to serve communities and counties throughout the United States.
Each county in Iowa benefits from an elected extension council that supports educational programs tailored to local priorities and needs.
Williams’ appointment is expected to bring fresh perspectives and renewed vigor to the ISU Extension and Outreach efforts in these communities, enhancing the educational impact and fostering stronger community relations.
