The National Wheat Foundation announces the recipients of the BASF Wheat Scholarships for 2026. This scholarship program supports students who plan to pursue careers in agriculture and strengthen the future of the wheat industry. With continued support from BASF, two students each receive a $2,500 scholarship, providing a total of $5,000 in educational assistance.
One of the scholarship recipients is Jacob Bingaman, who attends Oregon State University and studies Ag and Food Business Management. The selection committee recognizes Jacob for his strong academic performance, active participation in extracurricular activities, and a well-written essay highlighting the importance of wheat. His recommendation letter also emphasizes his attention to detail, strong values, and commitment to quality work. These qualities reflect his readiness for a future career in agriculture.
The second recipient is Paul McCalister from Abernathy, Texas. He studies Ag Business at West Texas A&M University. Paul plans to work in agricultural policy and help improve food security, rural economies, and global wheat markets. The committee values his determination, persistence, and strong desire to serve both his local community and the agriculture industry.
The scholarship selection process remains a meaningful effort for the Foundation. As stated by Ben Scholz, “Selecting the scholarship recipients each year is one of our favorite things to do. It brings us joy to recognize so much potential in these young applicants and we are so happy to see young people wanting to get involved in agriculture.”
The National Wheat Foundation thanks all applicants and encourages students who were not selected to apply again next year. The program continues because of strong industry partnerships and shared goals. The Foundation also expresses appreciation to BASF for its ongoing support.
