With such an iconic, essential business in the Australian landscape we are confident that you too will be proud to grow your career at Elders and wear the pink shirt.
About the role
We are seeking a Senior Agronomist to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis.
This is not just another agronomy role - it's an opportunity to step into a leadership position where your expertise and mentorship will shape the success of clients, colleagues, and the broader rural products business.
As a trusted technical advisor, you will provide expert agronomic guidance and tailored solutions to clients to help them build productive, sustainable operations. You will also play a pivotal role in mentoring junior agronomists and rural product staff, driving growth, capability, and performance across the branch network.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-level, on-farm agronomic advice and strategic technical support to key clients, with a focus on long-term business outcomes.
Mentor and develop junior agronomists and rural product sales staff to build technical confidence, product knowledge, and client engagement capability.
Lead rural products strategy within the branch, contributing to financial performance through effective product ranging, forecasting, and inventory management.
Drive business development through identifying agronomic sales opportunities, building trusted client relationships, and expanding the client base.
Represent the branch and Elders at field days, grower meetings, and community events, showcasing innovation through trial work and demonstrations.
Support the execution of national marketing campaigns at the branch level and contribute to local promotional strategies.
Monitor key performance indicators and coach the team to exceed individual and branch sales targets, while fostering a culture of client-focused service.
About You
A senior agronomy professional with experience in broadacre, pasture, or mixed farming systems.
Proven ability to coach and mentor team members, with a passion for developing others and lifting capability.
Strong background in sales and business development, with a demonstrated ability to grow client portfolios.
Strategic thinker with excellent communication and leadership skills, comfortable influencing internal and external stakeholders.
Committed to continuous improvement, embracing innovation, technology, and emerging research in agriculture.
Tertiary qualification in Agricultural Science, Agronomy, or a related field.
Skilled in building lasting relationships with clients and delivering tailored, high-impact advice.
Able to thrive in a dynamic, flexible work environment with a strong team culture.
