The General Manager - Agency plays a pivotal role in driving customer value, Elders' strategic growth, operational performance, and digital transformation across our wool broking, livestock, and grain agency businesses. Reporting to the Divisional CEO, you will lead a national team of 350+ sales professionals, increase customer presence, expand market share and deliver innovative digital and financial solutions.
This role oversees livestock financing, digital listing tools, and strategic partnerships (including Clear Grain Exchange), while embedding ESG, safety, and sustainability across the network. You'll work cross-functionally and represent Elders across industry, regulatory, and client relationships, supporting the Eight Point Plan and Sustainability Action Plan.
Responsibilities:
As the General Manager - Agency, you will:
Lead national strategies across wool broking, livestock, and grain to drive market share growth, client acquisition, and business innovation
Build capability across a high-performing workforce, with a focus on engagement, safety, succession, and input to national recruitment strategies for sales reps and agents
Strengthen Elders' presence in the market by representing the brand with key clients, suppliers, and industry bodies
Foster customer-centric thinking across all channels, ensuring value delivery and tailored solutions for producers
Oversee national operations, including auction channels (private treaty, physical, electronic), regulatory compliance, and P&L performance
Ensure strong governance and compliance by leading risk management, regulatory adherence, and audit accountability
Embed sustainability and ESG principles into operations, promoting ethical sourcing, animal welfare, and long-term environmental responsibility
About You
You are a commercially minded and customer-first leader with deep agribusiness experience and a passion for delivering growth, value, and innovation to rural Australia and have:
Strong customer orientation, with a commitment to delivering value and innovation to producers
Tertiary qualifications in Business/ Agriculture or a related field
Extensive senior leadership experience in the wool, livestock and/ or grain industry
Demonstrated capability in driving business growth and operational excellence
Strategic planning and financial acumen, with deep understanding of performance metrics and P&L accountability
Proven people leadership, with a focus on mentoring, engagement, recruitment and enabling a high-performing culture
