Edmonton Potato Growers are looking to hire a Seed Sales Representative. You will report to the Seed Division Manager and the Executive Board.

Reporting to the Seed Division Manager and the Executive Board, the successful candidate should be a strong communicator with excellent conversational skills. The responsibilities associated with this position would include significant travel requirements along with personal visits to clients and telephone or electronic contact on a regular basis. Trade shows are an important opportunity to meet clients as well as industry partners and would be a requirement of the position at a minimum of twice annually with the expectation to increase that amount. Planning and execution of detailed sales strategies as well as approximately 8 to 10 trips annually to locations across North America would be a requirement of the candidate. Knowledge of agricultural commodity markets would be an asset as well as the ability to create strategies for improvement of existing systems. The potato market is constantly changing, and the EPG members need to be aware of anything with potential to impact markets. This includes varieties, market events, weather events as well as conditions in other market sectors such as frozen processing, chipping, table or fresh, dehydrated products, etc. Understanding how these sectors interact with one another as well as the supply/demand relationship would be integral to the candidate becoming successful in the position. At times employees are required to take initiative to understand the details and interplay of office and warehouse activities and be willing to dive in if there is a shortfall of staffing in other areas. Working with the EPG management Team, the successful candidate would be required to work primarily at the EPG offices whenever possible to engage and learn to understand these systems. The ability to work independently but also as a valued Team member is important for the applicant to appreciate the complex nature of the potato industry in general.
