What is expected?
- Provide excellent customer service to customers who need our company's service
- Assign service tickets (repair and maintenance jobs) to service technicians based on their skills and knowledge
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and shop
- Repair any issues with shop tools, equipment or vehicles, servicing and replacing them when necessary
- Prepare service and repair quotes (pricing on a job) for customers
- Provide excellent customer service
- Maintain detailed records of service tickets, monitor job progress and address any issues from the service technician or customer
- Oversee hiring and training of the service department team
- Collaborate with the parts department or the parts department manager to order parts needed to complete services
- Grow service department sales while controlling expenses
- Improve service department processes to optimize customer satisfaction and return on investment (ROI – the ratio of profit or money earned over the total cost of investment, including time, labor, parts etc.)
- Perform regular maintenance on shop equipment
- Work with the transportation department to maintain service vehicles properly
What education and training is required?
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) preferred but not required
- Basic computer skills; familiar with standard desktop applications including Microsoft Office
A high school diploma, or more preferably an associate degree in industrial equipment technologies, mechanics, heavy equipment or transportation technology, is required. On the job training is also required.
