AgCareers.com Welcomes Six Collegiate Ambassadors to the Team for the 2013/2014 School Year

AgCareers.com is excited to welcome our 2013/2014 Collegiate Ambassadors.  The Ambassador Program rotates across several colleges and universities throughout North America which have strong agriculture-related programs. This year marks the 10th consecutive year of the program for AgCareers.com.  These students act as a liaison between AgCareers.com, AgCareers.com’s partnership clients, and the student body at their individual institution.  Throughout the 2013 and 2014 school year, ambassadors will educate their peers about the numerous career and internship opportunities posted on AgCareers.com by partnership clients, as well as important skills needed to achieve their ideal career in the agriculture industry.   Please join AgCareers.com in welcoming our new AgCareers.com Ambassador Team:

Tahlia Pollitt is a senior at the University of Florida majoring in Agricultural Education and Communication with a specialization in Communication and Leadership Development. This past summer, Tahlia interned at Buck Island Ranch in Lake Placid, Florida where she worked on cow crew and gained experience with the office activities of the ranch as well. During her time at UF, Tahlia has been particularly involved with the Animal Sciences department. She has been actively involved in Gator Collegiate CattleWomen for three years. With GCCW she has organized events like Ag in the Classroom, and has participated in many promotional beef events throughout the state. She has also been a member of Block and Bridle for three years and is currently the acting reporter for the club. Tahlia participated on the 2012 University of Florida Meat judging team as well as the 2013 Meat Animal Evaluation Team. Tahlia is a recipient of the Southeastern Meat Association scholarship for the 2013-2014 school year. She also participated on the UF Product Development Team that won first place at the North American Meat Association’s MEATXPO’13, topping several other universities across the country. Lastly, Tahlia has enjoyed being the head coach of the FFA meat-judging program at Chiefland high school for the past two years.

Westin Meyer is a senior at Arkansas Tech University, majoring in Agricultural Business with an option in Animal Science.  Westin is currently a member of the Agri Club on campus, as well as a member of the Arkansas Tech Ag Ambassadors, a group primarily focused on the recruitment of new students to the agriculture department at Arkansas Tech and to the agriculture industry as a whole.  Upon completing 4 years of eligibility playing college basketball in the spring of 2013, Westin is now looking forward to having much more time to dedicate to bettering the agriculture department at ATU and helping the department develop more extracurricular programs, including a livestock show team.  Upon graduation, Westin plans on furthering her education by attending law school, where she would like to focus on agriculture law.

Addie Spolyar is a junior at Michigan State University majoring in Crop and Soil Science with a specialization in Ag Business Management. She became interested in Ag through her involvement in 4-H showing beef and swine as well as being an active member of her high school’s FFA chapter. While a FFA member she held several offices which included serving as the 2011-2012 MI FFA State President. At school Addie is involved in MSU’s NAMA chapter, serving as the Public Relations chair and also works for the Michigan Corn Growers Association as their marketing intern. At Michigan Corn she assists in planning events, writing for the newsletter, and attending Project R.E.D. days to educate elementary students about the importance of Ag. This past summer she completed a Sales and Marketing Internship with Helena Chemical Company in western Michigan and was able to further her agronomy knowledge.  Addie looks forward to working with AgCareers.com to help inform students about the vast career possibilities in the agricultural field.

Tyler O’Neal is currently a senior at Texas Tech University, studying Agricultural Communications. On campus she is an active member of Sigma Alpha, ACT (Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow) and CFFA (Collegiate FFA).  She is also a competitive member of the Texas Tech Ranch Horse Team for the 2012 and 2013 semesters. Upon graduation in May, she has plans to pursue a career in photo journalism.

Tessa Nybo is currently a second year college student at Olds College. She is completing the Agricultural Management program majoring in Marketing. Tessa grew up on a commercial cow/calf operation and continues to raise and sell calves from her own herd of show cattle. An accomplished speaker, clinician, and judge; Tessa is now utilizing skills she learnt from beef and horse 4-H and High School Rodeo to host clinics for youth on a variety of topics including public speaking, multi judging, horse and cattle clinics. Tessa has been actively involved in the Aggies Club as well as the Canadian Agri-Marketing Association (CAMA) Student Chapter at Olds College as the chapter’s secretary. In 2012 she was honored to receive the W. Garfield Weston Scholarship for her leadership and volunteer roles which continue to extend across the campus, community, province, and beyond. Upon completing her diploma at Olds College in the spring of 2014, Tessa plans to purchase her own mixed farming operation in Alberta while also working in the area of agricultural event planning and marketing. Julie Blach is currently a junior at California State University Fresno. She is majoring in Agriculture Communications with an emphasis in public relations. Julie is originally from Livermore, California where she was actively involved in rodeo, team roping, and the Livermore FFA. While at Fresno State, Julie has become a member of the College of Agriculture Student Agriculture Ambassadors as well as the rodeo club. Julie is very passionate about being an advocate for the agriculture industry as well as the sport of rodeo. Upon graduation in May of 2015 from Fresno State, she hopes to pursue a career within California's diverse Agriculture industry.
