AgCareers.com Releases 2012 Job Analysis Report

An analysis of 2012 trends from AgCareers.com yields a positive outlook for the agriculture industry.  Agriculture companies are looking to fill job openings with qualified talent, while candidate traffic has significantly increased. 

AgCareers.com recently published the 2012 U.S. Agribusiness Job Report and the2012 Canadian Agribusiness Job Report. Demonstrating the strength of the agriculture industry, the report found that the total number of job postings in the United States and Canada approached 44,000, surpassing 2011’s record-high year by 477 jobs. 

Jobs posted ranged in industry type, such as agronomy, crop protection/chemicals, biotechnology, dairy, equipment/machinery, etc., which appeal to a large audience of candidates. Posted jobs were from a wide variety of career types, from manager to operator, and many more.
 
Candidates are increasingly considering opportunities in the agricultural industry through AgCareers.com. Nearly 1.7 million visits were made to the AgCareers.com site (an increase of 17%) and AgCareers.com’s social media following experienced tremendous growth in 2012. There was also a significant increase in applications going through the site, with nearly 10,000 applications processed each month.
AgCareers.com attracts a wide range of candidates to the site. Nearly half of all candidates had more than five years of experience and the majority had a bachelor’s degree or higher. 
Below are a few other highlights of the 2012 report:
  •  The number of applications processed through the site increased by 43%.
  • The number of jobs posted was over 3,600 each month throughout the United States and Canada.
  • There were more than 26,000 jobs posted in the Midwest region of the United States (highest posting region on AgCareers.com). The largest number of applicants also comes from the Midwest region. 

  • There was a 17% increase in the number of internship opportunities posted in 2012.
