AgCareers.com is pleased to announce the topics for the7th Annual US Ag HR Roundtable to be held August 3 -5, 2009 in Champaign, Illinois. Mark your calendars or register today! For the first time ever, the Roundtable is being held on a college campus and is being hosted by Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) and the University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign.
"The College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois is excited to welcome friends from industry and peer institutions to the 7th Annual US Ag HR Roundtable," said Jennifer Neef, Career Services Coordinator for the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois. "Bringing this outstanding event to our campus presents a unique opportunity for us to share the rich agricultural heritage of Illinois while discussing talent recruitment and retention challenges that are faced today."
Assistant Dean of Academic Programs for the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois, Jason Emmert, added, "Not only is this an outstanding opportunity for us to learn from and support one another, but it also provides a chance for the University of Illinois College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences to showcase our students and programs. We hope that participants leave the conference with an appreciation for agriculture in Illinois, and with a further commitment to work together in the interest of our students and the agricultural industry."
"ADM is proud to co-host the 2009 AgCareers.com U.S. Ag HR Roundtable,” said John Taylor, ADM Director of College Relations and Workforce Diversity. “We hope other attendees are as excited as we are about the opportunities to network and share knowledge on wide range of important topics. Our commitment to continuous learning helps make ADM a company where world-class talent comes to do its best work."
A group of industry human resource, career services and association professionals gathered on campus in mid-January to participate in the conference's Organizing Committee Meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to assist AgCareers.com with the assessment of current issues facing agriculture’s ability to recruit and retain talent. This committee developed a number of ideas and helped to narrow down the list of suggestions to create the final schedule of topics you see below.
For those of you who have not attended an AgCareers.com Roundtable in the past, the conference brings together human resource professionals, career services staff, and association representatives to discuss high interest issues surrounding recruitment and retention within the agriculture and food industries.
"The Ag HR Roundtable is an extremely valuable professional development opportunity for me," said Neef. "No other venue brings together industry HR professionals and university career services professionals to discuss common issues. It is an annual "must-attend" event on my calendar!"
