AgCareers.com Welcomes Five Collegiate Ambassadors to the Team in 2009

AgCareers.com is excited to welcome our 2009 Collegiate Ambassadors. The Ambassador Program rotates across several universities with strong agriculture-related colleges, throughout North America. These students act as a liaison between AgCareers.com, AgCareers.com’s partnership clients, and their student body. Throughout the semester, ambassadors will educate their peers about the numerous career and internship opportunities posted on AgCareers.com by partnership clients, as well as important skills needed to achieve their ideal career in the agriculture industry.   Please join AgCareers.com in welcoming the 2009 Ambassadors. 

 
Janna Houk is a senior at the University of Kentucky who is earning her bachelor's degree in Agriculture Economics and a minor in Business. Due to her hard work efforts she will complete her degree in May of 2009, after only three years in study. In July, she plans to continue her education by pursuing a Master's of Business Administration at the University of Kentucky. Janna is an active member of Block and Bridle organization through the University of Kentucky, College Of Agriculture, where she is on the Bar-be-que, scrapbook, and fundraising committees. She also participates in the Agribusiness Club and serves as a mentor in the Kentucky Community and Technical College Peer Mentor program. Janna has experience with state and national companies, such as: the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, the United States Department of Agriculture, as well as Packers and Stockyard. She also raises, breeds, and shows registered and commercial beef cattle. Following completion of her master’s degree, she plans on pursuing a career in Agriculture economics and/or business that will allow her to use the knowledge and skills obtained in both the undergraduate and graduate programs at the University of Kentucky.
 
Kristen Gossett is a senior at North Carolina State University, double majoring in Communication and Agriculture Extension along with a minor in Spanish. She is a member of several honor societies, including Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Tau Alpha, and is also a Thomas Jefferson Scholar at N.C. State. She serves as secretary for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Council and as a representative for the Jefferson Scholars on the Agri-Life Council at the university. During the previous year she has served as an intern in the public relations department at North Carolina Farm Bureau Federation. She studied abroad in Peru during the summer of 2008 and plans to travel to Australia in the summer of 2009 for study of agriculture, animal science and ecosystems within the country.
 
Jim Jansen is a senior at South Dakota State University, double majoring in Agribusiness and Agricultural & Natural Resource Economics. Jim’s experiences within the agricultural sector have focused around diversified production operations.   While at South Dakota State University Jim has been active in the Economics and Animal Science Clubs. During the summer of 2008, he completed an internship with Farm Credit Services of America as a Financial Officer. The internship included an in depth study of Agricultural Finance and development of communication skills to be used wit
