AgCareers.com and Minnesota Pork Producers Association Encourage Participation in Sustainable Strategies to Integrate Hispanic Talent Web Seminar
June 10, 2008
Cynthia Hoffman, AgCareers.com

Effectively integrating Hispanic talent into the agriculture workforce is the topic for the next AgCareers.com Web seminar. The seminar will take place June 17 and will be presented by Orlando Gil, recruiting director of Hawkeye Sow Centers, a division of Kerber Companies.
Gils says his company deals with the challenge of integrating Hispanic talent on a daily basis and wants to share some of the lessons it has learned.

“Participants will take away workable ideas and strategies on how to reach the Hispanic talent pool and use it to benefit their companies or organizations,” he says. “Web seminar participants will learn how the Hispanic labor market can be an important solution to the labor shortage problem.”

The Web seminar will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. CST and will include information about the current demographic changes, understanding cultural differences, and recruiting, training and retaining Hispanic employees.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the nation’s Hispanic population was 45.5 million or 15.1 percent of the total U.S. population in July 2007.  Eric Spell, president of AgCareers.com, says these statistics are significant and have an impact on the agriculture industry.

“The Hispanic population is the largest and fastest growing minority group in the U.S. and it’s important for us to realize how this will affect the agriculture industry,” Spell says. “As employers, we need to strive to continue to understand ways we can better integrate Hispanic professionals not only within our organizations, but into our communities as well.”

The cost of the Sustainable Strategies to Integrate Hispanic Talent into Your Workplace Web seminar is $189, but members of the Minnesota Pork Producers Association will receive a discount rate of $150.
