October 11, 2006

October 10, 2006 – The Ontario Institute of Agrologists (OIA) and AgCareers.com join forces through a strategic partnership to continue to improve upon and increase the talent level within agribusiness and the Ontario economy. This partnership will help to further awareness of the commitment of Ontario’s Professional Agrologists to protect public interest while providing Professional Agrologists and Articling Agrologists with exceptional recruiting solutions and professional development opportunities.

“This partnership recognizes the valuable link between industry and human resource capacity. Those employers who are PAgs can source exceptional employees and Articling Agrologists from Ontario and from abroad,” said Carol Tyler, P.Ag. Registrar of OIA.

The OIA is dedicated to ensuring the highest level of competency in Ontario’s Professional Agrologists (P.Ag.). This means the finest talent in the industry is provided with the credibility that is essential for employers and clients. The partnership with AgCareers.com provides opportunities for OIA registrants and employers to connect. In addition Ontario’s Professional Agrologists who are employers are given an economical resource to advertise current job openings and connect with thousands of job seekers who are specifically interested in a profession in agriculture, the agri-food industry and the agri-life sciences.

One of the many other benefits to the partnership is that OIA registrants will have improved access to customized educational conferences and workshops presented by AgCareers.com.

AgCareers.com and OIA look to this partnership to provide a number of branding opportunities for their organizations as well as the industry as a whole.

“This partnership is an excellent example of how two organizations can work together to further enhance the efforts of the agriculture industry and ensure that we can provide the public with safe and healthy products and reliable advice for years to come,” said Kathryn Doan, Business Development Manager of AgCareers.com.

The OIA is responsible for regulating only those with the PAg designation. The designation is about accountability: those registered are individually accountable to protect the public interest, to maintain their competencies, to provide and be accountable for their science-based advice to support the growth of the industry. The OIA Board of Directors is obligated to operate under provisions of the Act to incorporate the Ontario Institute of Professional Agrologists, 1960, statutes of Ontario.
