The OIA is responsible for regulating only those with the PAg designation. The designation is about accountability: those registered are individually accountable to protect the public interest, to maintain their competencies, to provide and be accountable for their science-based advice to support the growth of the industry. The OIA Board of Directors is obligated to operate under provisions of the Act to incorporate the Ontario Institute of Professional Agrologists, 1960, statutes of Ontario.

They are found in lending institutions, on farms, in advertising agencies, farm equipment dealerships, food processing plants, farm organizations, media, and corporate boardrooms.
