AgCareers.com Team Member Shares Love of Dance with Others

Ames, IA – Erika Brandt, Marketing & Communications Manager for AgCareers.com – a member of the Farms.com family, has been dancing since the age of three. Erika first began her dance career as a student at Beth Clarke Studio of Dance in Ames, Iowa. Upon graduation from high school, Erika was asked to continue as a part-time instructor at the studio where she was once was a student.
Over the past six years, Erika has graciously dedicated her time and talents to teaching groups of girls and boys of all ages. This year, Erika had one class of 14 kindergartners and first graders. In early June, she was in the midst of getting her students ready for their ‘big event,’ the annual recital.
“The recital is such a special time – all of the girls’ hard work finally pays off,” said Erika. “It is so heart-warming to see the kids beam with excitement as they tell you about all of the people who came to watch them.”
When asked why she has continued to dance for so long, Erika smiled and responded, “I made some good friends as a student and I had a great teacher in Beth Clarke, who has always focused on a fun and caring environment for her students. Dancing is just a lot of fun for me so there’s no reason not to keep doing it!” Erika also mentioned all of the skills that dance has instilled in her – confidence, poise, teamwork and the rewards of hard work. “I use so many of the things that dance has taught me in both my professional career and personal life.”
Erika hopes the students and their parents see her as a positive role model. “I hope the students gain some of the same skills I learned along the way and experience the same caring nature that Beth showed me,” said Erika. “I also hope they genuinely enjoy the opportunity to come to dance every week and have fun doing it!”
