We are seeking a Farm Manager to lead all farming operations on a large-scale arable business spanning over 6,000 acres in Cambridgeshire.

 

The farm produces combinable crops and operates at significant scale, with a strong focus on performance and efficiency.

 

This ambitious business has continued to grow in recent years, expanding its acreage and building a sizeable contract farming operation alongside its own farming. Ongoing investment across the business includes a modern, well-maintained fleet of machinery and significant investment in grain storage facilities.

 

As Farm Manager, your role will focus on overseeing day-to-day farming operations, managing the farm team and maximising crop yields. While there will be a small amount of paperwork, the majority of administrative and financial work is handled by the farm secretary and the owner.

 

As such, we are looking for a practical, hands-on manager who can cover all roles on the farm and lead by example. This opportunity would suit an experienced Farm Manager, or someone with proven people management responsibility on a large-scale UK operation.

 

The role:

  • Management of all farm operations across 6,500 acres of arable cropping
  • Team leadership and performance management
  • Take a hands-on approach to management including covering machinery operation where required
  • Liasing with agronomist
  • Purchasing inputs and consumables
  • Record keeping, updating Gatekeeper and operational admin
  • Work closely with the farm owner, contributing operational insight and practical input to farm strategy and capital investment discussions.
  • Ensure high levels of health and safety and compliance with farm assurance
  • Recruitment and workforce planning
  • Exploring and managing farm diversification ventures

 

About you:

  • Strong track record in a farm management position
  • Leadership skills and previous people management experience
  • Hands-on approach to farm management
  • Takes initiative to identify and resolve problems efficiently
  • Competent machinery operator capable of covering all roles on the farm including spraying
