Our client, a leader in the energy-efficiency sector, is hiring a Key Account Manager - EV Charging.
The Key Account Manager will manage client relationships and drive business opportunities in the growing EV charging market. As the primary point of contact for clients,
you’ll navigate utility rebate and incentive programs to help secure deals and ensure client satisfaction. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate a strong desire to win, and be relentless in overcoming obstacles. This position will be based out of their Austin, Texas office.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead Engagement & Follow-Up: Tenaciously follow up on leads generated by Business Development Specialists (BDS) or contractors. Proactively engage with prospects to understand their needs and move them through the sales process with assertiveness, ensuring no opportunity is missed.
- Rebate & Incentive Expertise: Become an expert in the available utility rebate and incentive programs for EV charging infrastructure. Actively direct BDS and contractors to focus on the most lucrative areas, pushing them to maximize each opportunity. When rebate caps are reached, shift gears to the next opportunity without hesitation.
- Market Strategy Development: Demonstrate a relentless drive to strategize and saturate high-potential areas as new programs or rebates become available. Use market intelligence to capture leads within program parameters and ensure every opportunity is pursued to its fullest extent.
- Lead Management & Calculations: Assertively engage with end-users to gather all necessary information and conduct initial calculations. Ensure proposals and estimates are accurate, taking charge of the process to make sure submissions are completed promptly and in line with program requirements.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure projects are moving forward according to plan. Maintain a strong attention to detail to ensure that all relevant parties are informed and all timelines are met, addressing any issues that arise along the way.
- Client Communication & Relationship Management: Maintain ongoing communication with end-users and partners, ensuring they are kept informed throughout the sales and project lifecycle. Work closely with clients to address any concerns, negotiate terms, and drive projects to a successful close.
- Adaptability & Continuous Improvement: Stay flexible and ready to pivot as needed based on market changes, program limits, or shifts in client needs. Continuously seek out opportunities for improvement and make adjustments to ensure the company and clients are maximizing value from every opportunity.
- Administrative & Paperwork Support: Take ownership of administrative tasks such as paperwork submissions and tracking incentive approvals. Ensure every detail is accounted for, and nothing is left incomplete or delayed.
DESIRED PROFILE:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience in sales or account management is acceptable.
- Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of experience in key account management, sales, or business development, with a proven record of closing deals and driving revenue. Experience working with rebate programs, utility incentives, or EV infrastructure is highly preferred.
- Tenacity & Desire to Win: Strong drive to overcome obstacles, relentlessly follow up on leads, and push deals through to completion. You must have a competitive spirit and an assertive approach to managing opportunities.
- Sales Expertise: Proven ability to manage client relationships with an outgoing personality that thrives on winning. You are comfortable taking control of the sales process and negotiating favorable outcomes for both the client and the company.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous organizational skills and attention to detail. You are proactive in tracking every element of a project, ensuring that nothing is overlooked and all details are handled with care.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. You can confidently present complex rebate and incentive programs to end-users and internal stakeholders.
- Proactive Problem Solver: Ability to anticipate challenges, think on your feet, and devise solutions quickly. You must be able to pivot when necessary and always be focused on pushing the deal forward.
- Willingness to Travel: Candidates should be open to periodic travel, potentially on a monthly basis, based on business needs.
