Position Overview

Our client is seeking an on site Facilities & Maintenance Manager to oversee the upkeep and functionality of their manufacturing plant and warehouse located somewhere near the greater metro area. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining facility infrastructure, equipment, and systems to ensure a safe, efficient, and compliant environment that supports production goals.


This position requires a balance of strategic planning, vendor management, and hands-on maintenance across disciplines including plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems, and machine servicing. The Facilities & Maintenance Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams in Production, Quality, and Maintenance to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Drive Operational Excellence: Plan and coordinate maintenance activities with a proactive preventive maintenance program to minimize downtime.

  • Sanitation Program Support: Partner with production to develop and maintain Master Sanitation Schedules (MSS) and Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs).

  • Facility Oversight: Ensure safety, cleanliness, and functionality of production areas, offices, and grounds.

  • Security Coordination: Work with leadership and vendors to ensure security and protection systems are in place (fire, burglar, weather-related).

  • Production Alignment: Schedule and coordinate repairs/maintenance to minimize disruptions to production.

  • Work Order Management: Prioritize, assign, and complete maintenance requests, including modifications, preventive, and corrective tasks.

  • Hands-On Support: Provide direct troubleshooting and repair support on the production floor.

  • Safety Leadership: Conduct inspections, facilitate training, and enforce safety protocols.

  • Vendor & Supplier Management: Negotiate contracts, oversee contractors, and ensure vendor compliance with standards.

  • Team Leadership: Supervise and develop maintenance team members.

  • Procurement Oversight: Manage supplies, equipment, and sanitation chemical procurement, ensuring proper handling and use.

  • Budget Collaboration: Assist with planning and managing budgets for maintenance and improvements.

  • Additional Duties: Support other facility-related initiatives as needed.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical or four-year degree preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in food & beverage manufacturing.

  • 1–3 years of supervisory experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of production packaging equipment and maintenance standards.

  • Strong understanding of OSHA workplace safety requirements.

  • OSHA 10/30 certification preferred.

  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP system preferred.

  • Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written).

  • Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities; proactive approach to troubleshooting.

  • Reliable attendance and ability to work in fast-paced, hands-on environments.

  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Comfortable working in varying conditions (hot, cold, or noisy environments).
