Our client, an investor in agriculture land and orchards (pistachios and almonds), real estate and equities, is searching for a Chief Financial Officer to join their team. This position will be based out of their headquarters in Los Angeles.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer will serve on the Executive Management Team. They will manage the Accounting and Finance departments, monitor and evaluate current investment performances and perform investment analysis, including evaluating and underwriting new investments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct and manage all accounting and finance work internally & externally
- Ensure all financial statement and accounting information are accurate and done in a timely manner by randomly checking the information & tasks
- Ensuring compliance with laws and regulating agencies
- Develop and implement policy and procedures including internal controls for checks and balances
- Conduct day-to-day responsibility of planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial related activities of the company
- Proactively improve functions and/or identify opportunities to improve the bottom line
- Make recommendations where investment performance targets are not met or could be improved and communicate risks
- Review and determine whether adequate insurance is in place to cover all reasonable risks
- Managing and evaluation stock portfolios, money managers, private equity and private placements
- Assist CEO in finding new investment
- Review, implement and/or develop of the organization’s strategic goals for growth
- Evaluate, underwrite, prepare proforma and conduct in depth due diligence for purchase of new investments
- Follow through all aspects of acquisition & procuring financing
DESIRED PROFILE:
- A minimum of 5-7, years of experience as a CFO
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business, MBA preferred
- CPA license preferred
- Experience in investment analysis, evaluation and underwriting of new investments
- Experience working in a small company
- Strong decision making, critical thinking ability, leadership, management, problem-solving and data management skills
- Proficient with office software tools
- Experience in planning and budgeting
- Experience in farming, pistachio or almonds a plus
