Our client, a leading grow light supplier for the horticulture market, is hiring a Key Account Manager.
 

The Key Account Manager will provide support throughout the sales cycle - from vetting leads to assisting in payment collection. The successful candidate will identify business opportunities, build and maintain successful team reports and analytics, and work interdepartmentally on joint initiatives. This is a remote position based in the United States.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Achieve individual sales revenue goals and contribute to reaching Sales team goals as well as overall company goals
  • You will oversee all aspects of the customer relationship to assist them through the sales process from initial consultation and design through solution presentation, closing, and revenue
  • Prospect and turn new opportunities into loyal repeat customers
  • Understand customer goals early in the relationship and partner with internal technical experts and external industry partners to provide the right solutions
  • Work across the company with subject matter experts in areas such as lighting design, fixture specification, installation teams, pricing and finance to meet the needs of customers
  • Respond to clients in a timely, respectful and professional manner with a keen sense of customer experience
  • Work with teams across the organization to resolve customer issues and provide world class service in a timely manner
  • Act as a Project Manager when working in a complex selling environment both within the company and within the customers business
  • Manage opportunities, quote processes, and payment terms planning for all customer projects and ensure a smooth transition to the relationship management team for the back-end process
  • Ensure an exceptional customer experience through accurate collection and updating of customer information, sales and history through the dedicated CRM system
  • Annually create account plans for top revenue producing, strategic accounts, review weekly and monthly with Manager and present to a wider audience as needed
  • Work with Manager to set meaningful goals that contribute to reaching our goals while serving the needs of the customer and contributing to their success

 

DESIRED PROFILE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture Science, Agronomy, Business or equivalent
  • Must have 5+ years of relevant horticultural working experience, preferably in sales/customer relations management in controlled growing environments
  • Required in-depth technical horticultural lighting knowledge
  • Sales experience must demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written) as well as a record of achieving sales goals
  • Proven track record of building productive, trust-based relationships with customers across a range of roles in production, growing, operations and pest management
  • Existing relationships with external resources within the horticultural segments such as equipment and/ greenhouse manufacturers, and other channel partners is preferred
  • Understanding of financials for commercial growers and how the company’s solutions will help improve customer’s financial performance; ability to create and present compelling ROI model
  • Demonstrated ability to present solutions to customers in such a way as to build confidence and overcome concerns
  • Ability to work in complex customer settings with multiple stakeholders and competing needs
  • Skilled in working collaboratively as part of a team to serve the needs of the customer
  • Able to advocate for the customer internally and represent the voice of the customer
  • Works with urgency and has enthusiasm about the company's products and customers success
  • Holds themselves accountable to all stakeholders
  • Always act with integrity to be a brand ambassador
  • Ability to be honest and transparent with the customer particularly when having difficult conversations
     
  • Ability to travel at least 50%, located near a major airport in region
