POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Farm Worker plays an essential role in day-to-day field operations, seed processing, and general maintenance. This is a physically active, outdoor position suited for someone with mechanical skills, a strong work ethic, and a desire to contribute to a growing farm and seed business. Whether you’re experienced in agriculture or looking to build your skills in a fast-paced, supportive environment, we want to hear from you!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate large agricultural equipment such as tractors, sprayers, and combines.
- Assist with planting, spraying, harvest, and general fieldwork.
- Operate and monitor the seed cleaning plant to meet quality standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to equipment, semi trucks, and trailers
- Safely load/unload grain trucks and follow proper seed handling procedures
- Sample and grade seed lots based on protocols and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records of grain movement, maintenance activities, and field operations.
- Support general yard and facility maintenance as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Willingness to work long hours and weekends during peak seasons (seeding & harvest).
- Ability to perform physicals tasks such as lifting 50+ lbs, crouching, climbing, and working outdoors in varied conditions.
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and willing to learn new skills.
- General knowledge of modern grain farming practices.
Preference will be given to candidates with the following assets:
- Experience operating large farm machinery.
- Welding, fabrication, or other mechanical trade skills.
- A valid Class 1 driver’s licence and clean abstract.
WORK CONDITIONS
- Extended hours, including overtime and weekend work, may be required during seeding, harvest or as needed based on operational demands.
- Work is performed primarily outdoors in a farm setting, in all weather conditions.
- Physical tasks include lifting, climbing equipment and manual labour.
