Position Vacant: Regional Manager (Part Time)
Location: St George, Dirranbandi and Mungindi region (location flexible within area)
Organisation: Cotton Australia – Australia’s peak body for cotton growers
Work Type: Part Time – up to 2 days per week
About the Role
Cotton Australia is looking for a practical, people-focused person to join our team as Regional Manager in the St George, Dirranbandi and Mungindi region. This flexible, part-time role (up to two days per week) would suit someone with a strong connection to agriculture and rural communities—someone who’s confident in building relationships, and helping people navigate information.
You don’t need a degree or formal extension background—we’re after someone with the right attitude, a solid understanding of local agriculture, and a genuine interest in supporting the cotton industry.
The role is split:
- 1 day per week supporting the local Cotton Grower Association, and
- Up to 1 day per week assisting growers with specific myBMP activities (Best Management Practices) sustainability program.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Helping growers understand and adopt the cotton industry’s voluntary sustainability program, myBMP, and supporting those seeking certification.
- Connecting growers with Cotton Australia’s work and representing the industry in the region.
- Gathering feedback from growers and water user groups and sharing updates on key industry initiatives.
- Organising local grower events and meetings in collaboration with grower associations.
- Representing the industry to local stakeholders including councils, NRM groups and other community organisations.
- Working alongside other members of the cotton industry's extension team (CottonInfo).
Who We’re Looking For
We’re after someone who:
- Has a can-do attitude and is comfortable working independently.
- Is a strong communicator who can build trust and rapport with growers and community members.
- Has experience in agriculture —on-farm, in ag services, water management, or through community work.
- Is organised and reliable, with the ability to manage tasks and follow through
You might have worked in agriculture sales, on farm, in a local industry body, or another role that gave you insight into the needs and priorities of growers. You don’t need to be an expert in cotton—we’ll support you to learn what you need to know.
Why Join Us?
- Flexibility – work up to 2 days/week and base yourself anywhere within the region.
- Connection – build local relationships and contribute to a growing, innovative industry.
- Support – be part of a national team with training and guidance from Cotton Australia and CottonInfo.
- Attractive remuneration – salary will be negotiated based on your experience.
