Job Description: DescriptionWe have an exciting opportunity for a Global Parent Quality Specialist. Global Parent Quality Specialist will be responsible for the characterization of select parent crops to ensure seed adheres to quality and purity standards and can be used to produce commercial seed that will meet customer expectations. The successful candidate will monitor seed quality data, follow up on non-conforming results, conduct root cause analyses, and recommend process improvements. This individual will lead the characterization processes with these regions, and serve a project manager for enhancements, continue improvement, and productivity initiatives. This person will develop and maintain tools and KPIs to streamline and strengthen workflows that support data management and decision-making. Ability to work creatively and independently and ability to incorporate additional data types in the existing workflows is highly required. The Global Parent Specialist will participate in or lead cross-functional teams to develop improvements to Global Parent Seed within Seed Production and Supply Chain and related processes within Research. We are looking for a skilled, dedicated, and creative person to join our team.

What You'll Do:

* Lead the Quality Characterization for Parent Corn, with the opportunity to liaise and expand to other crops as needed.

* Timely monitor parent seed quality data and ensure seed is characterized appropriately based on specification and inventory classification.

* Follow-up on seed lots that are non-conforming to product specifications and determine best way to manage the concern or recommend seed for discard. Communicate and collaborate with business partners to mitigate issues quickly and efficiently.

* Conduct root cause investigations, including review of SNP Scorecards, to determine the nature of the issue and if process improvement opportunities exist.

* Prioritize samples for testing by working with labs to determine correct mix, schedule, and ensure a timely review of test data.

* Review carryover and new crop seed reports and issue retest and resample requests as needed.

* Identification of gaps, process improvement opportunities, and quality characterization projects to drive best practices within focus crops and overall quality improvements, and collaborate with team on standardization globally. Drive projects identified both internally and externally to the team in the interest of achieve best in class quality.

* Facilitate in-season, proactive discard, and inventory management decisions, in order to reduce unnecessary parent seed processing and handling costs.

* Maintain necessary data reporting and troubleshooting tools through PowerBI to assist production locations with improved methods of tracking product quality and keeping supply estimates current and accurate.

* Collaborate on characterization KPIs and reporting.

* Conduct system set-up; edit checking, and validation to assure reliable quality data.

* Develop training and support documents on system procedures.

* Function as a “subject matter expert” on quality data management and inventory related issues.

* Manage data collection, statistical analysis, and project presentations which deal with aspects of parent seed quality issues. Maintenance of tables/dashboards needed to manage quality data and create structure for the quality analysis for all parent crops. Monitor data integrity, determining statistical procedures and utilize root-cause analysis tools of non-conforming data. Understand data relationships and data manipulation/tools. Ability to design, create, and maintain streamlined databases which accommodate existing datasets, user inputted data, complex analyses, reports, as well as flexible or ad hoc functionality.

* Develop tools that enable systematic collection of quality data, management of data submissions and data retrieval from the multiple relational databases.

* Develop approaches for comprehensive analysis of multiple data types and effective data visualization. Ability to troubleshoot complex databases and systems, as well as identify and implement opportunities for process improvement.

* Demonstrate resilience and adaptability to a fluid work environment and changes in project priorities.

* Identify problems, initiate corrective actions, and maintain regular communications with multiple internal and external stakeholders

* Provide input into developing Business Plans, Goals and Quality Management procedures and documentation.

* Conduct personal and professional development. Develop and maintain general and technical skills, as well as knowledge of Production Operations.

QualificationsWhat Skills You Need:

* Bachelor's degree in Plant Breeding, Plant biology, Genetics, Computational Biology, Statistics, Computer Sciences, Agronomy, Ag business or related field of study is required.

* 4+ years of experience in an agriculture, genetics, biology, seed production or related area required.

* Demonstrate advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Access applications

* Excellent written and spoken communication skills

* Organization, time management, and communication skills that allow for working in a multitask environment are required.

* Working knowledge in data management (working with large datasets), statistical analysis, and root cause analysis

* Team skills with ability to work and interact with people from diverse backgrounds.

* Proactive and willing to learn and take on extra responsibility

What Makes You Stand Out:

* Knowledge of agriculture, seed production, seed testing and/or plant breeding/genetics

* Experience in SQL and/or creating dashboards in PowerBI to inform and effectively communicate insights to stakeholders

* Working knowledge of inventory systems, such as SAP R/3, SPIN

* Six Sigma, LEAN and/or APICS certification

* Ability to provide training for proper use of computer systems.

* Adaptability to a fluid work environment and changes in project priorities
