Corteva Agriscience, AgricultureDivision of DowDuPont has an exciting opportunity for a Seed Quality Testing Lab Manager atits Chatham location. The Seed Quality Testing Lab Manager will manageadministration and allocation of resources for a large product quality testingfacility to ensure accurate and timely testing of production and researchsamples. The Manager provide leadership and training on tactical objectives oflab functions. This person will manageemployees across a wide variety of testing activity such as germination,sizing, plantability, field and special testing related to a wide variety ofstudies. In this position you will interface with wide variety of managers fromother quality labs, production, research, supply chain, sales, marketing andvisitor services to promote timely testing, accuracy of information concerningquality testing and quality issues.
Manages overall activities, prioritizestesting needs and administers resources for a large quality testing facilitysupporting large production volumes and moderately technical productionresearch activity.
Participates on quality or businessmanagement teams for purposes of needs assessment, direction and goal setting,planning and resource allocation.
Interacts with operations managers todetermine testing needs, types of tests, timelines and priorities.
Ensures proper facility and safe workingenvironments are maintained according to business plans and objectives andtesting activities remain consistent with mission and vision for qualitytesting.
Prepares budget or provide budget input forbusiness area. Monitor and ensuresadherence to budget, assesses variances, evaluates and controls costs,authorizes expenditures within budgetary limitations or assists in managingother funds as assigned.
Seeks and obtains required approvals fornecessary items for testing facility.
Ensures resources including suppliesinventories and physical assets are available and appropriate for testingneeds. Responsible for approval forpayment of related invoices and of employee timecards.
Hires and trains a skilled work force, competent inconducting testing and test evaluation. Provides for continuing skill and competency development through directtraining or being a training resource to less experienced employees. Oversee development of learning plans.
Manages reporting staff by developing and monitoring annual performanceplans, providing on-going feedback, coaching on work assignments or resolutionof issues, conducting performance reviews and salary recommendations, andguiding and monitoring professional development efforts.
Accountable for adherence to operational manuals, plans, procedures and workinstructions related to quality lab operations and testing registrations.
Directly responsible for ISO registrations, business plans, objectivesand documentation related to testing lab. Understands and promotes business plans. Schedules and conducts required audits. Maintains prescribed documentation of testing activity, training,document control, management review, calibration, quality records, correctiveactions, preventative measures and statistical controls.
Assures regulatory protocol governing lab testing rules, regulations,standards or guidelines are being followed.
Collaborates with research, production or supply chain management onproposals, development, implementation and adaptation of new testing technologyand testing protocol, or on testing related to new technology or protocol. Helps decide which new testing protocol maybe standardized and used.
Responsible for training, implementation and use of new protocols withintesting area.
Analyzes methods used to assist operations personnel with properapplication and appraisal of factors for determining product quality.
Assist in analyzing and evaluating data for quality evaluation withoperations managers across production, research, supply chain, sales andmarketing.
