Corteva Agriscience is seeking a Research Associate to join our Salinas, PR site. This role will focus on timely genotyping of samples utilizing all related automation and software tools available in a high throughput production molecular marker lab. Be a part of a team environment with effective communication and interpersonal skills that enables the production of high-quality data to ensure successful product development at the Salinas Research Center and throughout Corteva Agriscience.

What You'll Do:

* Complete all steps associated with the lab process, including DNA extraction, PCR and analyze production data utilizing all related lab automated equipment and software to accomplish the process. This includes but not is limited to sample receipt, buffer preparation, prioritization of processes, assay set up, and quality control.

* Contribute to continuous improvement of activities and processes using established project management processes.

* Assist in inventory management for consumables and reagents.

* Take initiative in troubleshooting of equipment, process issues and help in process improvement in the marker lab, thoroughly analyze the data and present the results.

* Communicate effectively with supervisor and peers, with business partners and staff throughout the Salinas Research Center and Corteva Agriscience.

* May be requested to assist in other Research sites, laboratory areas or groups.

* May require flexibility in work schedule, including weekends, second or third shift when needed.

* May be asked to take responsibilities in safety and general upkeep of the lab.

* May require some work-related travel.

* Identify tasks or processes that need improvement and develop methodology to achieve needs.

* Troubleshoot processes to identify root causes and apply corrective and preventative actions.

* Planning and executing workload timely and efficiently.

* Make daily decisions associated with managing workload and meeting work objectives.

* Collaborate with the team to decide priorities of work activities.

QualificationsWhat Skills You Need:

* A minimum education of a Bachelor's Degree - Natural Science degree with 2 years' experience in related field or equivalent level of relevant education and laboratory experience.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English preferred (Spanish required).

* Broad theoretical grounding and understanding in specialized or technical areas (i.e., chemistry, biology, agricultural sciences, biostatistics, and computers)

* May be required to do physical lifting and work in varying ergonomic environments.

* Experience with lab automation processes preferred.
