We are currently hiring a Research Associate to join a team committed to developing and applying bioassays for input traits screening. You will support a variety of functions including plant growth, bacterial transformation, transient expression, insect infestation, data analysis and reporting.
Responsibilities - How will you help us grow? It matters to us, and it matters to you!
Responsible for plant growth and care, equipment upkeep, bacterial transformation and insect manipulation according to established rules and regulations
Execute all aspects of bioassays from experiment planning to reporting
Participate in troubleshooting and improvement of bioassay procedures
Follow appropriate procedures for handling regulated plant material and pests
Collaborate with scientists and colleagues within and across groups to streamline and support successful execution of processes
Collect, record and analyze data; effectively synthesize and communicate results
Maintain lab notebooks with detailed and timely recording of experimental data
Take part in routine laboratory maintenance including equipment, research material, and inventory of chemicals and/or supplies necessary for the completion of experiments
Requirements - What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?
Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, microbiology, plant biology, entomology or biological sciences and a minimum of 2 to 4 years of industry-related experience is required or equivalent amount of relevant education and experience.
Practical knowledge of plant biology and microbiology techniques is required.
Experience with bioassay development and an understanding of entomology is highly desirable.
Proven ability to perform molecular biology assays and basic protein detection and quantification techniques is essential.
Demonstrated skill to run bioassays from planning to scoring; ability to collect and assess data quality, perform data analysis including basic statistics and produce timely experimental reports
Proficiency in a wide array of computer software including MSOffice, image analysis and databases as well as the ability to quickly master new software.
Excellent communication and organization skills; the ability to work independently and as part of a team; self-motivation and adaptability to change.
Demonstrated skill to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Self-driven, motivated individual with excellent work ethics and time management.
