Corteva Agriscence is seeking a broadly skilled Entomoloy Senior Research Associate to join our Crop Protection Discovery Biology group based at our Indianapolis research and development facility.
We are seeking a candidate with a background in entomology or a related field to assist with honey bee related research projects. Experience conducting greenhouse and/or field studies is desirable. The successful candidates will be responsible for developing and implementing bioassays to evaluate synthetic and natural compounds for potential use as reduced-risk agricultural solutions. Emphasis will be on organizing a balanced approach for continuous screening while improving existing methods and developing new ones. The successful candidate must be able to work in team environment, network across scientific disciplines, and be able to clearly communicate to a broad range of audiences.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to develop and evaluate novel agricultural solutions.
- Responsible for developing, conducting, recording and analyzing high throughput bioassays for insect control.
- Assisting with the maintenance of colonies of a variety of agricultural pests.
- Generating and clearly presenting summaries of technical results
- Developing and implementing safety practices to ensure safety in the work environment.
B.S. or M.S. (M.S. preferred) in entomology or a related area
Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
Self-motivated, organized research associate, who enjoys working in project teams, meeting project milestones, and supporting company objectives
Strong record of accomplishment and reliability to deliver superior results
Working knowledge and experience with bees or pollinators is highly desired.
Training in bioassay development and sample management with a background in entomology and aptitude to learn and develop new techniques. Working knowledge of automation, electronics, or robotics is desirable.
Understanding of assay development and criteria needed for the successful development and deployment of high throughput assays.
Ability work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously and meet project deadlines.
