Cattle Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

• Communicate with dairy customers, negotiate commodity contracts, continue relations and contracts for calf purchases through various avenues and agreements.
• Ensure Department Managers have the training, tools, teams and authority to achieve desired outcomes in day-to-day workings and thus attain the company’s strategic goals.
• Collaborate closely with the Managers/Foreman on operational strategies & improvements
• Monitor performance metrics and ensure adherence to animal care and safety protocols
• Coordinates the preparation of reports for upper management; presents recommendations for improvements and adherence to budgets.
• Ensures timely collection of inventory revenue
• Assists with implementation of policies and procedures of the organization to ensure efficient and safe operations.
• Participates in implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning; develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
• Foster a culture of safety, respect, and continuous improvement

Abilities Required

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
• Ability to supervise & train employees-- include organizing & prioritizing work assignments.
• Leadership expertise for employee development and performance management skills.
• Knowledge of computerized information systems used in inventory management
• Bilingual Spanish/English is required
• Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or closely related field.  
• Prefer 5+ years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
