Summary

CHS Inc. has an exciting opportunity at our Laurel, MT refinery for a Safety Specialist/Industrial Hygienist Intern for the Summer of 2026. This successful applicant will work with our Health & Safety staff to enhance regulatory compliance programs associated with all the governmental acts and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in hazard recognition through identifying and resolving basic safety issues.
  • Utilize computer systems and spreadsheets to analyze, monitor and track safety systems.
  • Analyze data and provide comprehensive reports.
  • Function as part of a team in all aspects of the refinery safety department.
  • Interact effectively with management, employees, union personnel and contractors while building relationships.
  • Communicate (when directed) across the CHS business units to share concepts and implementation strategies.
  • Plan, organize and prioritize safety related issues impacting employees and contractors.
  • Participate in safety meetings and occasionally present safety topics.


Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • Completion of your Sophomore or Junior year in Occupational Safety and Health or similar safety related field in an accredited program with a cumulative GPA of 2.6 or better.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.


Additional Qualifications

  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
  • Previous internship or work experience in the oil and gas industry.

Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
