Summary

CHS, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Portfolio Specialist for our Proprietary Comprehensive Crop Protection business. This individual would be responsible for our crop enhancement and fertility portfolios at CHS. This position would be at the forefront for shaping the strategic vision, implementing business strategy, and delivering the financial objectives of their respective portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a passion for agriculture with a proven track record of delivering consistent growth, ability to identify and evaluate complex business problems and provide well thought out solutions. This role requires a highly collaborative and innovative individual who embraces a healthy team culture and who can clearly communicate, influence and inspire others to execute on an overall strategy.

This position can be remote in the United States or located at our global corporate office in Inver Grove Heights, MN.

Responsibilities

Business Strategy and P&L Ownership
  • Own P&L for crop enhancement and fertility portfolios including management of investments & expenses to deliver the bottom line & growth
  • Portfolio manager - responsible for the development of marketing strategies that include go to market, the 4 P’s, channel, product lifecycle, customer, customer segmentation & new products/services
  • Owns innovation strategy in collaboration with R&D and Brand Marketing
  • Engaged with FP&A on financial projections and levers/actions to drive P&L performance
  • Communicates strategy and engages with field facing teams and sales teams that execute on go to market
  • Collaborates with Sourcing and responsible for key buy decisions, portfolio strategy, key fill communication/execution & financial impact

Stakeholder Collaboration & Leadership
  • Demonstrates influential leadership to achieve success when working cross functionally and through others.
  • Partners with business experts on insights and development of pricing and trade execution
  • Develops a deep understanding of market and industry dynamics, business, competition, brand landscape, customers, consumers and industry
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key customers, suppliers, and other business partners
  • Primary decision maker for many actions that would primarily impact your P&L - including functions in Sales, R&D, Brand Marketing, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing & Finance

Business Insights and Analytics
  • Establishes and monitors business KPIs to track progress and ensure alignment with objectives
  • Leverages and owns business insights (i.e. market, customer, retailer, competitive, sales, pricing) and business analytics to make fact-based, data-driven decisions
  • Builds business processes including risk management and negotiations with suppliers and/or customers


Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 7+ years of agronomy sales or product management expereince


Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Masters Degree preferred from a four-year college or university
  • 10+ years related experience in agriculture specifically in Crop Protection Product Marketing & Sales preferred
  • Demonstrates influential leadership to achieve success when working cross functionally and through others.
  • Experience partnering with business experts on insights and development of pricing and trade execution
  • Develops a deep understanding of market and industry dynamics, business, competition, brand landscape, customers, consumers and industry
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key customers, suppliers, and other business partners
  • Strong indirect leadership ability to work across wide swath of organization
  • Ability to effectively communicate in-person, on the phone and via e-mail.
  • Ability to perform under stressful situations and time constraints
  • Ability to consistently present in front of groups a professional and positive attitude.
  • Strong focus and dedication to customer service and product support.
  • Ability to utilize office tools (phone, fax, computer)and Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to conduct meeting presentations on proprietary products at industry expert level
  • Strong background in supplier relations and working across numerous global suppliers

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Up to 40% travel


CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
