Summary

We’re hiring a Originator Intern in Herman, MN ! This hands-on internship offers the chance to work closely with our Grain Originator, engaging with local producers to secure grain and develop effective marketing strategies. If you're detail-oriented, a strong communicator, and eager to learn, this is the perfect opportunity to gain real-world experience in the agricultural industry and kick-start your career! The internship can start as early as Spring 2026, depending on business needs and your availability, and extend through the summer.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and assist with grain origination: procure grain from local producers and call on new accounts.
  • Learn and observe working with producers, updating them on market trends, current grain quotes, grain programs, and forming marketing plans.
  • Assist with reporting and typing all purchasing contracts quickly & accurately.
  • Assist Grain Originator with rail billing and grain sales settlements as needed.
  • Partner with the elevator and office staff in the exchange of information to enhance the flow of grain.
  • Provide excellent customer service and work well with patrons in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • Currently enrolled in Ag Business, Crop Science, or other Agriculture related degree program.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Software.


CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
