Summary
The Legal Operations Specialist is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the operational, financial, and administrative functions of the CHS Legal Department. This role drives efficiency, transparency, and strategic alignment by managing legal technology, outside counsel relationships, process improvement, and compliance related operational support. This position serves as a strategic partner to stakeholders within and beyond the Legal Department, enabling attorneys and legal professionals to focus on delivering high-value legal services that support CHS business objectives.
Responsibilities
Oversee legal department operational and administrative functions, including matter opening, law firm onboarding and vendor management, monitoring legal spend and providing forecasting, reporting, and cost-containment strategies
Manage outside counsel engagement processes, including RFPs, rate negotiations, and billing guidelines
Develop and implement standardized processes and workflows, along with related policies and procedures in collaboration with department attorneys and legal professionals
Manage and improve the legal department tech stack, including the existing e-billing system (Tymetrix T360) and related workflow; identify opportunities for technology improvements and process automation (e.g., SAP integration)
Use advanced data functions (e.g., pivots, vlookups, formulas) and AI tools to build reports, dashboards, and perform data analysis
Develop and manage legal department document management workspaces, seeking to develop improved ways to capture and share information related to the department
Lead cross-functional projects to identify, develop, and implement new tools, technologies, and process solutions to enhance legal department efficiency and effectiveness
Coordinate with department leads to adopt and use generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools in a coordinated, practical, and effective way across multiple legal team use cases.
Develop and deliver internal training for legal management tools
Manage ad hoc projects as assigned, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results
Minimum Qualifications (required)
High School diploma or GED
7+ years of related experience including 3+ years process improvement or process automation experience in an IT or Operations environment
Experience leading cross-functional projects and managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment
Skilled in identifying process inefficiencies, mapping baseline processes, and designing improvement plans
Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to assess risks and uncover improvement opportunities
Ability to design and implement effective operational controls aligned with business goals
Proficiency for applying artificial intelligence tools to enhance work quality, streamline processes, and generate value-added insights
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Self-starter with ability to work independently and manage shifting priorities
Proficient in data analysis and visualization tools
High level of discretion and sensitivity when handling confidential information
Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative team-oriented approach
Adaptable to change and comfortable working in an evolving environment
Additional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) preferred
5+ years in-house legal operations experience preferred
Proficiency with Tymetrix T360

Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
