Summary

CHS Inc. has an exciting senior leadership opportunity within our Ag retail division in Hannaford, ND! We are looking for a Director of Operations to join our leadership team of our CHS Devils Lake business unit. Performing basic financial acumen, planning, business process controls, as well as supervisory, public relations and organizational skills are key components in managing these operations. Responsibilities

  • Oversee operations at six locations.
  • Develop and manage operating, capital, and lease budgets.
  • Manage Location Managers and/or Sales Managers.
  • Work with management and sales team on programs, pricing, and overall strategy.
  • Develop & recommend product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share.
  • Develop, establish, and execute comprehensive marketing plans & programs, both short & long range, to support sales and revenue objectives of the organization.
  • Oversee and ensure inventory is in place and accurately accounted for.
  • Serve as a liaison between suppliers, vendors, and distributors to management and sales staff.
  • Achieve satisfactory profit/loss ratio & market share in relation to preset standards & industry & economic trends.
  • Ensure effective control of marketing results and take corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives fall within designated budgets.
  • Establish & maintain a consistent corporate image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events.
  • Research, analyze, and monitor financial, technological, and demographic factors to capitalize on market opportunities and minimize effects of competitive activity.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key industry and strategic community partners.
  • Assist with loading and unloading trains, when necessary.
  • Weekly travel within our trade territory and occasional overnights.
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed or assigned.


Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 7+ years of experience in Operations and/or Business Operations
  • Prior leadership experience with progressively advancing level of leadership responsibilities


Additional Qualifications

  • Ability to make decisions and work effectively both independently and collaboratively
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written with an ability to influence others
  • Strong negotiation, public relations and organizational skills
  • Associate’s degree in Business, Agronomy or Agriculture related program preferred
  • Agribusiness/Location management/Agronomy Sales experience preferred
  • Co-op experience preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb rail cars, ladders, stairs, and bins
  • Ability to work in dust and adverse weather conditions and temperatures


CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
