Commodity Broker Job Description:
Cattlenomics is a commodity brokerage and cattle market consulting firm that focuses on feedlots, small packing plants, and beef market participants. We have an exciting opportunity for a Commodity Broker in our Loveland, Colorado office. The ideal candidate will be dynamic, entrepreneurial, and passionate about the agricultural and financial markets. The ideal broker will be personable, tenacious, and a natural networker, having a proactive approach to generating leads and securing new business.
The main purpose of this position is to support existing customers of Cattlenomics, LLC., and to develop new accounts.
Key responsibilities:
- Promote Cattlenomics, provide market intelligence and analysis to clients,
- Identify and arrange trades or hedges that suit the client's needs,
- Create and maintain relationships with potential customers, other brokers, market analysts, and traders to improve market knowledge,
- Maintain and enhance existing client relationships, making regular contact while tracking cattle & feed inventories,
- Proactively solicit engagement from industry participants via trade calls, surveys, industry events, trade shows, and conferences.
- Identify and seize new business opportunities relating to trends, futures markets, products, and clients,
- On-board new clients following approved compliance and operations procedures,
- Regularly assess client needs and financial conditions to identify opportunities,
- Perform other reasonable duties as required to meet company goals and objectives,
Core Competencies/Skills:
- Must possess, or be able to promptly obtain, a Series 3 license,
- Possess knowledge of agricultural products and markets,
- Strong client focus; personable and engaging, while building relationships and networks wherever possible,
- Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues,
- Team-oriented; works well with others and can perform tasks that support team initiatives within diverse environment groups/personalities,
- Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical and numeracy skills,
- Ability to use Microsoft Office products and other software as required,
- A degree in Agriculture, Mathematics, or Economics is preferred.
Salary will be based on experience. Commission based on performance.
