Position Purpose

This position is part of the Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate facility in Hazleton, PA reporting to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager. This position is an integral part of the EHS team and provides support for the development, implementation and hands-on support of the EHS Management System. The Safety Coordinator performs tasks and completes projects to support continuous improvement for the prevention and reduction of workplace injuries and illness in order to achieve a proactive safety environment. The Safety Coordinator supports operations on the production floor and works with stakeholders to ensure they are involved in the EHS Management System.

Principal Accountabilities

• 25% - Identify, investigate, and report non-compliances and unsafe conditions; report results and recommendations back to the key stakeholder
• 25% - Ensure compliance with Cargill's EHS Management System
• 15% - Track all safety projects in an organized manner, ensuring that project status updates are communicated and interventions are completed
• 20% - Support local safety projects and initiatives, including training of employees
• 15% - Collect, analyze, and summarize injury statistics and report information

Required Qualifications
• High School Diploma
• 2+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Implementation experience with safety and environmental regulations
• Experience with the development and delivery of required training.
• Experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Flexibility to work different shifts when necessary

Preferred Qualifications
• Associates Degree in Occupational/Environmental Health and Safety Discipline or related area
• Bachelor's Degree in an Occupational/Environmental Health and Safety Discipline (Eg. Environmental Health and Safety, Kinesiology, Ergonomics, Occupational Health etc.)
• Experience of Ergonomics, including quantitative and qualitative hazard assessment, and corrective action implementation.
• Experience with construction safety
• Experience with behavioral based safety program implementation
• Experience in emergency response management
