Position Purpose

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that employees are trained and skills are current and appropriate, that communication between maintenance and the other disciplines is effective, and that all work is performed according to Cargill?s Best Practices. Maintenance Supervisors are expected to work within the MMS tool set to develop and manage a body of planned and available work. They will coordinate weekly with Operations to establish a week forward work schedule and will focus daily on ensuring the right person is doing the right work at the right time. 

They will also participate in RCA?s for all issues that meet the requirements. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day safe and efficient maintenance, upkeep and repair of the facility while:

- Ensuring equipment is operating to maximum capability
- Optimizing resource utilization ? backlog and overtime management
- Enforcing adherence to food safety requirements
- Optimizing the total cost of ownership
- Coaching and developing personnel to ensure employees are trained and skills appropriate/relevant
- Overseeing maintenance daily/weekly activities including identification, kitting, coordination and execution of planned and reactive work
- Administering company policies and procedures.
- Keeping an effective team together and functioning at a high level

Principal Accountabilities

25% - Daily, ensure that the workload is managed through the proper workflow procedures, investigate opportunities in a timely fashion and implement corrective actions when needed.

20% - Provide ongoing coaching to assist with development of supervisory staff, have the ability to identify and effectively deal with below expectation performers and administer organizational policies and procedures, council employees and deal with employee concerns to minimize labor problems, foster an atmosphere promoting feedback and communication to advance the management of work, improvement in asset health and preservation of equipment capabilities.

15% - Manage the execution of the right work at the right time with the right people to ensure tolerances, specifications, and acceptance criteria compliance and results are presented in a professional manner. Will require communication to obtain and/or provide feedback from/to technicians, operators, production personnel, maintenance management and business unit peers.

15% - Manage department safety activities and execution of successful safety management program; continue to coach and challenge employees to achieve safety excellence. Approve accurate completion of all incident investigations and ensure that investigations are identified and that the proper corrective actions are implemented.

10% - Routine review of KPI?s, provide solutions for deviations from targets, monitor departmental budgets, hold self and others accountable for achieving goals and targets.

10% - Develop short and long term strategic goals to optimize operational effectiveness and achieve operational excellence.

Required Qualifications: 

- Two-year related technical degree/certificate (engineering, maintenance, sciences, etc.) or a minimum of 5+ years Technical Operations experience. 
- Basic knowledge of OSHA, Food Safety, Cargill Safety, and Environmental regulations. 
- Demonstrated skills of team building, conflict resolution, innovation and change within the work force 
- Effective communication (verbal, written, presentation) skills at multiple levels of Cargill and customer organizations.
- Ability to work on a cold environment
- Ability to work overtime, holidays or weekends if needed by the business
- Ability to climb stairs 
- Ability to be on call in case of plant emergencies 

 Preferred Qualifications: 

- 1+ years of Supervisory experience.
- Understanding of process controls and associated HMI systems
- Ability to read and update electrical schematics skills.
- Knowledge of reliability centered maintenance, planning and scheduling desired
- Take part in HAZMAT, Confined Space, and Incident Command training to be able to respond to emergency events
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
