Position Purpose & Summary

Cargill Global Edible Oil Solutions (GEOS) is a very diverse Global business, with multiple data sources across multiple systems which feed into various analytic environments to enable a flexible, consolidated, and consistent top-down and bottom-up reporting capability.   This position will help GEOS advance in becoming a data driven organization.  

In this position, the Data & Analytics Lead will own and drive the data & analytics strategy for GEOS.  This will require close partnering with all business functions and the Corporate Global IT organization.  This position will secure appropriate data stewardship within the department and functions in the group and enable correct data flow and analytics possibilities for GEOS.  This position will serve as the liaison between the Business and Global IT/Service for execution of the Analytics roadmap In addition to very strong technical skills and an appetite for hands on work, this position requires super business process analysis and interpersonal skills.

Principal Accountabilities

40% Implement, and Lead Data and Analytic strategy across GEOS.
  • Develop and execute the strategy, plan, including roles and responsabilities, talent and capability needs and processes to effectively capture, store, manage, analyse, and display data, across GEOS by setting a clear architecture and hierarchy in systems and tools.
  • Provide clarity on roles and responsibility in data stewardship, in reporting and in analytical tasks and champion the Data & Analytics road map of the group.
  • Ensure effective processes are in place to provide accurate, timely, and insightful management reporting and data. 
  • Formulate techniques and checks for data quality to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data. 
  • Devise and implement efficient and secure procedures for data handling and analysis with attention to all technical aspects.
  • Establish rules and procedures for data sharing between functions and departments, with upper management, external stakeholders etc.

30% Provide hands on guidance:
  • Run data checks for data quality and basis results provide guidance and feedback to stakeholders. 
  • Resolve data and reporting issues by connecting the appropriate people and where needed hands on intervention.
  • Provide guidance on adequate use of reporting tools and avoid unnecessary proliferation of reports. 
  • Responsible for evaluating, re-designing, and implementing improvements. 
  • Develop and maintain systems and tools for analyzing business data and enabling advanced analytics.
  • Ensure certain temporary manual job of extractions and uploads are done to ensure continuity - if needed by doing it.

30% Stakeholder and virtual team management:
  • Develop a network or virtual team to enforce data standards and analytic tool adoption across the organization. Coach and train virtual team.
  • Work closely with management to prioritize business and information needs.
  • Link with appropriate parts of IT and be point of contact for those.
  • Link with appropriate Cargill Global Process Owners and maintain alignment with those strategies and be a point of contact; positioning GEOS for success.
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities (consolidated, consistent, correct reporting)
  • Enforce policies for effective data management across the Group by holding departments and functions accountable for adequate and accurate data stewardship and timely and conform reporting by commercial and operations teams, FP&A, and other departments and functions.
  • Ensure compliance and controls within data processes.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree 
  • 8 years of Business experience.
  • Proficient in data management and analysis. 
  • Familiarity with modern database and information system technologies. (e.g. SQL, Hadoop, Tableau, Power BI)
  • Experience with SAP is prerequisite (e.g. building reports, data structures, configuration, etc.) 
  • Ability to travel internationally 30% (GEOS regions)

  • Excellent understanding of data administration and management functions (Collection, Analysis, Distribution, etc.)

  • Knowledge of quality improvement or process improvement tools and techniques or willingness and aptitude to learn them (i.e.: Lean, 6 Sigma) is a prerequisite.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply LEAN/AGILE best practices and lead with an AGILE mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and lead sprints that support a large blue-print/roadmap. 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Math, IT, MIS
  • Experience with JD Edwards 
  • Experience with data models, data warehousesExperience with technologies such as SQL, Hadoop, Tableau, Power BI
