Located in the heart of agricultural production in eastern North Carolina, UMO prepares graduates in the rapidly growing and changing fields of agriculture.

Seated Agricultural Degree Programs
UMO offers degree options for the traditional student learner, providing hands-on experience at the Kornegay Student Farm where they can engage in research and advance applied knowledge. In addition, industry standard certifications are a component of the learning environment, allowing students the opportunity to stand out to employers by showing achievement of advanced industry proficiency. 100% Online Agriculture Degrees for Adult Students
The flexibility of the online format allows busy adult students the opportunity to continue working full-time while attending online classes. To maximize the flexibility for working adults, each class is 7 weeks in length. UMO is transfer friendly and accepts credits from many two and four year institutions. Experiential learning credits may also be available to those who have occupational background which closely parallels the experiences and objectives required in the coursework. The expansion of UMO’s degree programs allows the University to meet the educational needs of both students and employers within the changing agricultural industry across the state, and beyond. Precision agriculture, agronomic principles, sales and marketing, and agricultural education will remain at the forefront of educating students for careers in agriculture, and applied learning experiences are pivotal in this process.
In addition, UMO’s student farms provides an opportunity for hands-on experience in year-round crop production, livestock management, various independent student projects, and field activities for selected courses. The student farms allow students to apply the learning from UMO courses in a real-world application. With less students coming with on-farm experience, the UMO student farms provide invaluable experiences that will benefit students in their careers and in life.
