The UMO School of Agriculture and Biological Sciences, in keeping with its reputation of providing a convenient and affordable education to all students, offers agricultural degree options in both a traditional on-campus format for recent high school graduates and a 100% online format for adult students.

The University of Mount Olive (UMO) School of Agriculture and Biological Sciences is a trailblazer in educating future agricultural leaders. Located in the heart of agricultural production in eastern North Carolina, UMO prepares graduates in the rapidly growing and changing fields of agriculture. 

 

As a private, faith-based institution rooted in the liberal arts tradition, UMO is proud to educate tomorrow's agricultural leaders. The UMO School of Agriculture and Biological Sciences, in keeping with its reputation of providing a convenient and affordable education to all students, offers agricultural degree options in both a traditional on-campus format for recent high school graduates and a 100% online format for adult students. The University touts a 100% job placement rate of its agriculture graduates within six months of graduation.   

 

Students are encouraged to cultivate agricultural skills and methods to support a desire for knowledge and the ability to problem solve using advanced critical thinking skills. Faculty have extensive real-life experience and are nationally recognized in their fields of study. Programs of study include: 

 

Seated Agricultural Degree Programs  

 

UMO offers degree options for traditional student learners, providing hands-on experience at the Kornegay Student Farm, where they can engage in research and actively use what they learn in the classroom. In addition, industry-standard certifications are a component of the learning environment, allowing students the opportunity to stand out to employers by showing achievement of advanced industry proficiency. Financial aid and scholarships are available. Degree options for the traditional program include:

  • Agricultural Education 

  • Agricultural Production Systems 

  • Animal Science

  • Biomedical Science 

  • Ecology and Natural Resources Management  

  • Plant Science 

  • Veterinary Bioscience

100% Online Agriculture Degrees for Adult Students 

 

The flexibility of the online format allows busy adult students the opportunity to continue working full-time while attending online classes. To maximize the flexibility for working adults, each class is eight weeks in length. UMO is transfer-friendly and accepts transfer credits from two- and four-year institutions. Experiential learning credits may also be available to those who have an occupational background that closely parallels the experiences and objectives required in the coursework. To help make the cost of tuition even more affordable, students may apply for financial aid. For the adult student, 100% online degree options in agriculture include:

  • Agricultural Communication and Leadership
