Overview
A transportation manager is responsible for coordinating and regulating an organization’s transportation-related operational activities. They will schedule the movement of transportation vehicles, aircraft and railroad cars and ensure that deliveries and orders arrive on time. Transportation managers work will make sure that all deliveries follow transportation-related policies and safety rules.

What education and training is required?
An associate degree or higher in logistics, business administration, agricultural business, supply chain management, transportation administration or a related field is required.
To pursue a career as a Transportation Manager:
The following high school courses are recommended: agricultural education, business, agricultural mechanics, personal finance, science and mathematics.
Where can I work?
Transportation managers are employed by companies that provide and maintain vehicles their employees use, most commonly agricultural, chemical and seed companies as well as animal production companies. Additionally, they can also work at companies that specialize in the delivery of products only.
