Crop Production Agronomist
Camas Creek Ranch | White Sulphur Springs, Montana

 

Position Overview

Full-time position assisting in the management of our crop production at Camas Creek Ranch. You'll contribute to all aspects of our farming operations including alfalfa, triticale, and small grain production. During slower crop production periods, you'll support broader ranch operations. This role drives the growth and innovation of our cropping program.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and assist with the following:
  • Plan, manage, and implement crop rotations across all fields
  • Develop fertilizer and chemical programs for each rotation
  • Order seed, fertilizer, and chemicals
  • Coordinate timeliness for all input applications
  • Assist in operating pivot and flood irrigation systems
  • Monitor crop health and make real-time adjustments
  • Maintain detailed records of all field operations
  • Identify opportunities to improve yields and reduce costs

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Support ranch operations including but not limited to maintenance projects, fencing, facility repairs
  • Assist with cattle handling and feeding operations as needed  
  • Contribute to the broader ranch team during seasonal workload fluctuations

 

Required Skills

  • GPS technology: Must operate precision ag systems proficiently
  • Equipment operation: Run John Deere tractors, implements, and Massey Ferguson baler
  • Crop knowledge: Strong understanding of alfalfa, triticale, and small grain production
  • Soil analysis: Read and interpret soil tests to make nutrient recommendations
  • Irrigation: Operate and troubleshoot pivot and flood systems
  • Team Oriented: Must work as a detail-oriented team player
  • Organization: Keep meticulous records and maintain equipment/supply areas

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Corn production experience
  • Sprayer operation and calibration
  • Precision agriculture software experience
  • 3+ years managing crop production

 

Compensation

  • Pay based on experience.
