Job Title: Road Mechanic (Field Technician)

Job Type: Full-time, Hourly (non-exempt) position DOE: ($34.00 to $45.00/hour)

Reports To: Branch Manager / Service Manager

At Bobcat Central Inc. Merced we are looking for a dedicated Field Technician (Road Mechanic) to join our team. As a critical part of our service team, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of Bobcat construction and agricultural equipment in the field. Using an equipped service truck, you ll perform skilled repairs on mechanical, diesel, and electrical equipment, ensuring that all work meets Bobcat s high standards for quality and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Field Technician Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrate an understanding of standard machine hours to ensure repairs align with warranty guidelines and meet customer expectations for both quality and timeliness.
• Clearly explain service conditions to customers, including diagnosis, necessary repairs, and estimated costs, ensuring transparency throughout the process. Maintain consistent, professional communication with the Service Supervisor and Field Dispatchers to keep them informed and ensure accurate and timely work orders are completed.
• Providing extensive repairs on equipment with a high level of attention to detail. Responsibilities include servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, moving parts, and various mechanical construction and agricultural equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
• Analyze complex issues and evaluate data to determine the most effective solutions.
• Strive to complete all repair orders within the time allotted.
• Ensure the Field Service Truck is regularly maintained and stocked for optimal performance and ensure the service area is tidy and all tools and equipment are properly stored after each job.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent and basic math skills.
• 5 years of experience in the field or shop service tech troubleshooting and repair experience with minimum errors, and or supervision
• High-level knowledge/hands-on experience in Electrical, Hydraulic, Hydrostat, and DEF systems.
• Ability to obtain forklift certification.
• HVAC experience preferred but not required.

Field Technician Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Bilingual (English & Spanish) a plus.
• Ability to work with limited supervision.
• Must have own tools up to 3/4 drive metric and standard.
• Valid Driver License.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment air conditioning systems and their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
