A Brief Overview
The Staff accountant is a detail-oriented individual that will function in a critical role on our finance team.  In this role, you will support the accounting and financial functions of this organization.  Your primary responsibilities will include daily and monthly accounting tasks such as booking deposits, creating production invoices, and reconciling statements. You will also contribute to yearly reports, tax filings, and assist in financial analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
 

 

Essential Activities

Transaction Processing and Recording 

  • Accurately book daily deposits and payments 
  • Calculate, book, and distribute production invoices 
  • Review and approve coding and validity of Accounts Payable production and research invoices 

Reconciliation and Analysis 

  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and prepare summaries for management review 
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations of bank statements, petty cash, and other operational accounts 
  • Analyze and reconcile operational metrics such as chemical and material use, breeding hours, and diesel inventory

Financial Compliance and Reporting 

  • Manage and adhere to financial month-end close procedures 
  • Prepare and submit necessary reports 
  • Complete annual filings and reporting 

Operational Support and Collaboration 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and support organizational needs 
  • Assist in preparing tax reports and provide support for audits 
  • Work with Accounting Manager to review P&L variances and make necessary correcting entries 

Project and Task Management 

  • Handle ongoing tasks and projects such as Fixed Asset management, insurance allocations, and depreciation reviews

 


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field.
    • Certificate as a Certified Management Accountant or Certified Public Accountant is preferred
    • 1-3 years of work experience in finance and accounting.

 


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
  • Strong Analytical skills and attention to detail.  Ability to analyze complex data and financial information to identify trends and discrepancies.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal teams and external parties.
  • Technological Proficiency: Familiarity with accounting software and proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
