YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Unit Leader plans, directs, and coordinates all manufacturing activities in a plant to produce high-quality products at competitive costs while adhering to safety and legal regulations. Ensures safe, cost-effective, timely, and specification-compliant production following Standard Operating Procedures. In this role you will oversee process and plant safety, employee health and safety, quality, and plant emergency operations. Also, you will ensure external and internal regulatory compliance, including environmental aspects of the plant. You will plan, staff, organize, and manage personnel, including training and supervision. Additionally, you will allocate cost centers and resources necessary for safe and efficient operations. You will facilitate communication and information exchange within the unit/plant and with key interfaces, such as Production Reporting. Plans, implements, and improves production processes. Finally, you will manage projects related to cost savings, performance improvement, investments, and integrations. Ensures the safe technical functioning of production facilities in cooperation with engineering and technology teams.
The primary responsibilities of this role, Unit Leader, are to:
- Accountable for multiple squads within a designated unit to deliver specific manufacturing outcomes designed to support the overall Row Crop site mission;
- Act as a VACC leader and be responsible for filling the role of Visionary, Architect, Catalysts, and Coach for assigned unit;
- Provide leadership support for their area of responsibility and facilitate alignment with other teams onsite and off;
- Foster collaboration in a flat network of autonomous entrepreneurial teams called squads;
- Support Unit and Squad's focus on mission to deliver beneficial outcomes for all team members, customers, and stakeholders;
- Add value by supporting the Unit/Squad development and delivering the best product and customer experience;
- Drive a culture of innovation by encouraging teams to generate, evaluate, and rapidly implement creative ideas;
- Enable squads to run daily production activities, execute daily production schedule, and deliver the best product & customer experience;
- Be an escalation point for tasks and projects prioritization, problem solving continuous improvement, conflict resolution, displaying VACC behaviors and prioritizing the squad's self-organization first;
- Optimize squad members' performance, development, and empowerment through DSO principles. Promote onePSS activities by collaborating with partners/experts outside of the Unit;
- Collaborate with internal and external networks to ensure that the unit is receiving the support/resources they need to be successful;
- Promotes fluid talent and resource unitization within the Unit, being outcome oriented;
- Ensure Unit compliance while empowering the squads as much as possible;
- Models VACC behaviors; Facilitating, the co-creation of a shared vision and higher purpose that resonate with customers (V)-designing, evolving, and integrating the way we work, (A); Acting to promote change, removing obstacles, and connecting different parts of the system;
- Helping employees develop capabilities and mindsets to thrive and foster inclusion and empowerment;
- Monitor site P&L and provide assistance to teams as they ensure balance and alignment.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED;
- Basic user knowledge of standard computer programs (Internet, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, tablets/smart devices);
- Valid driver's license (to be eligible to drive a company car, your driving record must meet guidelines based on the company's risk screening for hiring drivers - MVR will be reviewed as part of preemployment screening);
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical;
- Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons or when business needs require it;
- Willingness and Ability to work multiple shifts (days or nights).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, engineering disciplines, Supply Chain Management or similar degree and a minimum of 5 years of applicable experience; OR
- High School Diploma or GED with 8 years of applicable experience;
- 5+ years' experience in managing and developing teams;
- Leadership experience in manufacturing, supply chain, agriculture industry;
- Skilled at leading, managing conflict and negotiating with cross functional teams;
- Ability to empower and hold others accountable.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $97,760.00 to $146,640.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
