Technical Agronomist III 

 

This Channel Technical Agronomist role will cover the following counties in Stearns, Meeker, Wright, Mcleod, Carver, Sibley in MN.  As a Channel brand Technical Agronomist, you will be the product and agronomic leader within your squad, supporting sales teams and farmers by providing expert guidance and solutions to enhance crop yields and farm profitability. You will collaborate with sales representatives to engage dealers and customers, conducting field plots for product testing and comparison. Your role involves assessing crop health, recommending pest and disease management strategies, and overseeing inquiries and claims related to product performance. You will provide technical support on product selection and application techniques, conduct training sessions, and develop customized crop management solutions tailored to local conditions. You will also promote digital tools for data analysis and insights, and communicate effectively through various channels to deliver timely information. You are jointly responsible with local sales, product management, agronomy, agronomic services, and marketing personnel to achieve or exceed established sales targets, utilizing your agronomic expertise to position the full Bayer portfolio for current and future business success.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and execute field scale testing programs;
  • Collaborate with seed dealers and growers to plant, maintain, and harvest trials, collecting required data;
  • Provide technical support and training for seed dealers and your Bayer squad;
  • Communicate the agronomic value of seed and crop protection products;
  • Create and align an Agronomy Plan with your squad to achieve business objectives;
  • Build presence and credibility with key growers, seed dealers, crop consultants, and other third-party stakeholders;
  • Lead local product portfolio management and future year forecasting, including thorough evaluation of new products;
  • Manage product performance inquiry claims in alignment with guidelines and launch new products;
  • Ensure compliance with Bayer safety and vehicle safety policies, including product stewardship and use recommendations for your local territory;
  • Deliver high-quality work, exercise good judgment, and make independent decisions without immediate supervision.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • A valid driver's license;
  • Ability to obtain a DOT license;
  • Ability to lift 60 lbs;
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work, exercise good judgment, and make independent decisions without immediate supervision;
  • Strong ability to provide constructive, solution-based input and contribute ideas to achieve organizational goals;
  • Willingness to travel approximately 60% with significant daily face-to-face customer interaction.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 6+ years, Master's degree with 4+ years, or Ph.D. with 3+ years of experience in agronomy, sales, field development, or R&D related roles (degree must be completed by start date);
  • Expanded range of contacts and influence beyond your immediate area.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $90,640.00 - 135,960.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
