Sr. Quality Engineer 

 

This role is responsible for driving the continual improvement and maintenance of Quality Assurance programs to support Kansas City production including ensuring raw materials and packaging components meet specifications, dispositioning production outputs, supporting quality investigations, and advancements in Quality Assurance practices. This role will be part of the QHSE Unit.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Sr. Quality Engineer, are to:  

  • Drive the evolution and maintenance of KC site Quality Assurance processes and management systems to ensure both compliance and increasing site process capability to consistently achieve the highest quality standards and assure customer satisfaction;
  • Partner with KC site operations teams to ensure effective quality management systems elements are in place and utilized in continuous improvement processes: These include, but are not limited to, critical to quality parameter definition and utilization, effective key performance indicators and end-to-end process capability analyses;
  • Propel the evolution of our quality culture by partnering with stakeholders to proactively identify risks and implement safeguards and mitigation;
  • Provide support to operations areas in the form of troubleshooting, coordination with stakeholders beyond the site and joint facilitation of root cause analyses;
  • Establish and maintain a quality assurance process for site Quality Assurance and Quality Control data and processes;
  • Assist site teams in learning about critical quality concepts, practices, etc;
  • Support operations teams to analyze customer (internal and external) feedback and develop strategic plans to improve customer experiences;
  • Drive execution of global and regional quality initiatives and systems improvements;
  • Support development of site quality and other goals and subsequent identification and execution of projects, initiatives, etc. to support those goals;
  • Assure ongoing ISO 9001 certification via internal and external audit programs and continuous improvement of Quality Management Systems;
  • Foster increased trust, confidence, and teamwork between Quality Control Lab and production teams;
  • Maintain quality-related documentation;
  • Support new product and chemistry introductions to the site;
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key external-to-the-site stakeholders, including, but not limited to, global and regional Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Product Development and Customer Service teams;
  • Serve as the contact partner for the KC site for global Regulatory Affairs for new and renewal registration activities, process and specification changes.

 

 WHO YOU ARE

  Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related science field;

  • Demonstrated ability to work across functions within site and across company;
  • Proven critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in Chemical, Pharmaceutical or Food Manufacturing and/or associated quality functions;
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems, Quality Control processes and Quality Assurance processes;
  • Six Sigma/Lean or other data analysis and problem-solving knowledge.
